FCC Broadband Map

FCC Broadband Map provides broadband deployment data — ISP coverage, speeds, and technology types by location. Data includes provider name, technology (fiber, cable, DSL, fixed wireless, satellite), download/upload speeds, and coverage areas. Updated semi-annually from ISP filings. Filter by state, county, census block, or coordinates.

Data Model

  • Coverage — broadband availability by provider, technology, and speed tier at census-block level.
  • Providers — ISP names, holding companies, and FRN (FCC Registration Number).
  • Technologies — fiber (50), cable (40/42), DSL (10/11/12), fixed wireless (70), satellite (60).
  • Speeds — download/upload tiers in Mbps; includes max advertised and typical speeds.
  • Geography — state, county, census tract, census block, or lat/lon coordinates.

Gotchas

  • As-of dates: Data is point-in-time snapshots; use listASOfDates to find available dates.
  • Technology codes: Numeric codes (10=ADSL, 40=DOCSIS, 50=Fiber, 60=Satellite, 70=Fixed Wireless).
  • Rate limits: No published rate limit, but excessive requests may be throttled.
