EA Asset Management

The Environment Agency Asset Management API provides access to flood defence asset records and their maintenance history across England. No authentication required.

Capabilities

• Asset directory reads with optional type filter and pagination (limit, offset).
• Asset activities — maintenance and inspection history for a specific asset by numeric ID.
• Asset details — full metadata for a specific asset by its numeric ID (e.g. 382266).
• Search by EA area — find assets within an Environment Agency area (e.g. Wessex, Thames, Anglian).

Workflow

1. Browse assets, optionally filtering by type
2. Search by area to find local assets in an EA region
3. Open detail using the numeric asset ID from directory results
4. View activities to see inspections and maintenance history

Asset Types

Raised Defence, Embankment, Channel, Culvert, Outfall, Weir, Lock.

EA Areas

Thames, Wessex, Anglian, Midlands, Yorkshire, North East, North West, Devon Cornwall & Isles of Scilly, Solent & South Downs.

Gotchas

• Use limit and offset for pagination (mapped to API _limit and _offset).
• Asset IDs in list results are full URIs — the numeric ID is the last path segment.
• Activities include inspections, repairs, vegetation management, and structural assessments.
